Honeymoon Trip to the Maldives & Dubai

I recently got back from my two-week honeymoon in the Maldives and Dubai and I would love to tell you all about it and share some images from my trip!

Now, this is a trip I have been looking forward to for over a year! I got married to my (now) wife of 5 years at the beginning of September and to say the planning was a joint effort would be a little bit of an overstatement as I had literally done absolutely nothing. Stone and Wood Shop keeps me an extremely busy boy so planning a wedding and running a business was never going to be a reality. However, I did have a chance to plan and book our dream honeymoon (to make up for the fact she did all the planning!) and we set off on the Wednesday after the wedding for our two-week break.

We flew out from Gatwick airport in the afternoon and began our journey to Dubai and then connected onto the Male airport in the Maldives, where after a very groggy night flight, we were met by a very attentive chap from the hotel who boarded us onto our boat to the island where we would be spending the next eight nights. Upon arriving, we were blown away by the sheer beauty of the surrounding islands and reefs. After checking into our beachfront hut, we took a leisurely stroll around the entire island, which only took 20 minutes. Living in London, you very easily get distracted by the hustle and bustle of it all, so being plucked out of it for a while makes you appreciate there’s a world out there waiting to be explored. For our entire stay, we were constantly surprised by the service from the amazing locals, the food and the scenery (even when it rained)! I also managed to start up a video blog when the missus wasn’t looking but that’s for another time.

Maledives

After an exhausting 8 nights of not doing much, it was time to head to Dubai mid-morning for the final leg of our trip and I must say, it being my first time, Dubai is something you all have to see even if it’s not your cup of tea. A city, which has been built from the sand in the space of 30 years, is a marvel of engineering and planning. Being in the construction game for as long as I have really highlighted the speed at which they’re building and developing. In sheer difference to the Maldives, Dubai is all about the show and how big you can do it, from the buildings to the cars, from clothing brands to food, it has absolutely everything a billionaire playboy (or girl) needs to live the most opulent lifestyle… a far cry from what we could afford but still worth a look. We enjoyed afternoon tea at the Burj Al Arab, the Souk in the old city as well as the newer ones and finished off the trip with a visit up the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, as well as enjoying one of my favourite past times of smoking shisha and eating cake!

I have to say this trip really was a once in a lifetime holiday and one I don’t think I’ll be doing for a very, very, very long time, it’s a good thing I’ve got lots of pictures to remind me… some of which I would love to share with you.
